Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a proven, evidence-based approach that fosters meaningful conversations for behavior change. However, MI professionals often struggle with bridging the gap between learning MI and fully integrating it into their daily practice.
As the Lead UX/UI & Brand Designer, I spearheaded the creation of a seamless digital ecosystem where MI professionals can track their growth, access guided reflection tools, and engage with a supportive learning community.
Through human-centered design and behavioral psychology, I created an intuitive, engaging, and scalable platform that supports MI practitioners in their journey—helping them move from theoretical knowledge to embodied practice.

THE PROBLEM
Key Challenges MI Professionals Face:
Lack of structured, ongoing support after initial MI training.
Difficulty tracking personal growth & maintaining motivation.
Limited access to a like-minded MI community for shared learning.
A need for tools that encourage self-reflection, without feeling overwhelming.
AMIGA & Becoming MI had to solve these challenges through design, making self-reflection, MI skill-building, and community engagement feel natural and frictionless.

The software package offers a comprehensive service, providing features such as parts inventory tracking, cost-debt analysis, management of large data volumes, and the ability to export data for improved organization.
THE CHALLENGE
Designing a Digital Ecosystem for Growth & Connection
The goal was to design a multi-functional, user-friendly platform where MI professionals could:
Check in on their MI growth through interactive Spirit Checks.
Track their professional development over time.
Access structured, on-demand MI resources tailored to their needs.
Engage with a community of MI practitioners & mentors.
This required a thoughtful UX strategy, blending branding, interaction design, and user psychology to create a product that felt both insightful and empowering.

Built an interactive Spirit Tank system, helping users visualize their MI growth.

Ensured the platform was accessible, engaging, and designed for expansion.
BRANDING AMIGA
Designed to provide structured learning, resources, and a global community. The logo, a triangle inspired by a hug, symbolizes support, connection, and growth—core values of Motivational Interviewing.
BECOMING MI
A reflective space for MI practitioners to deepen their practice and sustain their MI spirit. The logo, a butterfly emerging from AMIGA’s shape, represents transformation, continuous growth, and the evolving MI journey.
Both identities work in harmony, visually reinforcing learning, connection, and personal development in the MI community.

LESSONS LEARNED
Designing Brainstorm AI underscored that seamless integration is key—users don’t want to “use” an assistant; they want it to blend effortlessly into their workflow. Personalization emerged as a game-changer, with customizable templates and UI settings driving engagement. Prioritizing keyboard-first interactions proved that efficiency often outweighs visual complexity, streamlining user workflows. Striking the right balance between AI automation and human creativity built trust, ensuring users felt in control rather than replaced. Beyond functionality, the brand’s dynamic, storm-inspired identity reinforced the product’s essence—fluid, intelligent, and empowering—demonstrating that design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about shaping perception and experience in ways that drive adoption and loyalty.
